Blue Glass Asters and Sunflowers and a Dallas Arboretum Workshop by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

My Dallas Arboretum class demo
20X20
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Blue Glass Asters and Sunflowers was my demo painting on Saturday for my class at the Dallas Arboretum.  It was a beautiful day in the park with huge crowds who turned out to see the Chihuly Glass Exhibit in the gardens. The ladies and I took a quick break before lunchtime to pose before the large glass sculpture by the main entrance - my husband said this one is called The Mexican Hat! (and he should know!). I was tickled pink that Joy Ijams was there to help me Saturday, she heads up the adult education department at the Arboretum so it was wonderful to have her on hand. Joy got to meet Dale Chihuly when he came to help with the setup and the opening events, and she has some really fascinating things to share about this great glass artist. What a huge honor for Dallas - and especially for the Arboretum - to have the exhibit in the gardens. I have lots of photos of the glass to show you over the next few days, as well as those juicy tidbits of info on the artist himself, so stay tuned!

Put a little joy in your brush and join me in 2 weeks for my Summer Saturday Sunflower Class on June 23 - I saved a seat for you! Let's paint some flowers together this summer and make some color happen.
