Season Finale Purple and Blue Irises is the demo painting I created in class today to take advantage of my last two purple irises from the garden. Rain storms are predicted for tomorrow, so I cut the last two blooms and brought them indoors. My student did her own beautiful painting, a bright sunflower, so we just about covered both ends of the rainbow, from blues and purples to yellows and golds (with one red poppy demo thrown in just for good measure).

You can see Season Finale Purple and Blue Irises step by step on my art blog. While my iris garden is waning, my hydrangea beds are budding new flowers like crazy so stay tuned. My new baby hydrangea tree even has blossoms, (I feel like a proud mom or something). My crystal ball tells me we'll be seeing more hydrangea paintings very soon!
