Fields Aflame in Progress

Fields Aflame Sunflowers reached their peak last week, and after the painting was varnished and dried, it was wrapped in paper and adorned with a large red bow. The hubby did the hardest work, gift wrapping the painting, and he left the back open so it could be hung safely on the wall for storage. My client wanted the final unveiling to be a surprise for his wife on Christmas Day.

I love painting sunflowers, and this new painting is designed to be displayed above a beautiful floor to ceiling Texas stone fireplace. This is the largest single panel sunflower I've ever painted, and it was fast work, as if the blossoms were waiting to hop onto the canvas. I love when a painting happens so quickly, like it's been waiting in the wings for its moment to shine.
