Sidelong Glances and Dallas Arboretum Blooms by Nancy Medina

Sidelong Glances by Nancy Medina

Sidelong Glances is based on one of the beautiful blossoms of the Dallas Arboretum. The photo that inspired this painting was taken two days before a snowstorm hit the grounds of the arboretum and buried tulips, flowers, cherry blossoms, azaleas, and all manner of blooms under 4 inches of snow. It was an abrupt end to tulip season, and a surprise storm for all of us artists in our little tents out on the grounds for Artscape. I am taking the initiative this year, however, and purchased a new light dome tent for the show in March. No more flaps flying open and snow blowing in on Sunday morning, coating all the paintings and frames for me!

If you are in town in March, I hope you will stop by Artscape and see me. If you do, I will especially make arrangements for a few hundred tulips to bloom there in your honor.
