Evening's Rest Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina

Evening's Rest Hydrangeas

I was so proud of myself yesterday for prepping dozens of canvases, but now the real work begins! Building my inventory for Artscape at the Dallas Arboretum. This is my absolute favorite place to have an outdoor show - amid the best blossoms of the year. I was visiting the Arboretum a few months ago and wanted to share a photo on my blog today of a walkway dotted with shadows and flanked by beautiful daffodils.

When my father was transferred from St. Louis to Dallas in 1969, we lived just a few miles from the Arboretum, but my family was completely unaware it existed so we never visited as children - I wish I had some memories of family picnics there, but I am delighted to have such a lovely, low-cost place to visit where there are 100 year old oaks and beds of roses and other bloomers that have been lovingly tended for decades. Come spring, if you see a lady wearing a funny cowboy hat and with green paint on her nose painting in the gardens there, stop and say hello - I'll be so happy to meet you!
