Good Fences, Rose Gardens by Nancy Medina

My last 2 years of College were completed while working full time as the editor of a community newspaper. The long drives to campus were spent listening to books on tape, back when a cassette deck was what most of us had in our cars. My favorite way to while away the time was to listen to Robert Frost reading his own poetry. The Mending Wall came to mind as I finished up this new picket fence rose painting yesterday. Here is an excerpt:

Mending Wall
By Robert Frost
(Excerpt)

He moves in darkness as it seems to me~
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors."
