Iris Garden was painted plein air in the garden of my friend Judy Mackey, a talented artist and one of my best painty pals. The ice plant in the foreground and the cool white tones of the iris worked well with the orange clay soil and natural stone wall by Judy's fountain. Only a few flowers were blooming when Judy and I painted that day, but fortunately artists are given this thing called free license and suddenly *poof* more flowers appeared as if by magic in my painting!
Judy and I were extremely fortunate to have the careful supervision that day of her German Shorthair studio assistants Stella and Tina, although the girls were more interested in the popcorn we were eating than the composition or values in our artistic creations.
What a lovely painting and sounds like the assistants had fun too!
ReplyDeleteThe assistants are always happy to see Nancy for her sharing of popcorns and toys she brings. Nancy your *poof" is magical!
