Mission in California

Santa Barbara Mission, 11.5x10.5 Watercolor Copright 2009 Kay Smith. Painted with a 1" sponge house painting tool instead of professional artist's brushes, this scene was done in less than 2 hours fast, loose, and wet.

  1. Kay, this is a great composition, I've never seen the SB mission painted from this angle before.

  3. Kay,
My wife and I lived in Santa Barbara back in 1977-78 while I was attending photography school at Brooks Institute. The mission was one of my favorite places in SB and the location of our early view camera assignments. Thanks for the memories.
