This is a 9 x 12 study from a recent trip to Fredericksburg. It was a hot day and a bridge crossing the creek gave me shade in the late afternoon. In addition, there was a 6' dam in the creek with a dry spillway so I could paint from the middle of the creek with the water at eye level and still stay dry! Choosing the right location is an important part of plein air painting!
