This Great Blue Heron lives on ocean-front property off the coast of New Hampshire. I painted him from a photo taken last week by my talented friend Sharon, a photographer who captures images like this one simply by traveling a mile or two from her front door.

Great Blues have a wonderful call and can be seen across the US. While researching Mister Blue, I found a great Web site where you can hear the voice of the Great Blue Heron. Take a look and scroll down a bit for the play button. Wonderful, yes?
